Data Shows That Factors Other Than Product & Dose Impact The Consumer Experience

It's no secret that living a healthy lifestyle can improve your overall well-being. But did you know that those same factors can also make for a better cannabis experience?

Jointly has data to show that when you're making healthy lifestyle choices, you'll have a better cannabis experience regardless of your goal.

So what are some of the factors that make for a healthier lifestyle? Eating nutritious meals, getting regular exercise, and getting enough sleep are all great places to start. And of course, staying hydrated is key! Making these healthy lifestyle choices will not only help you feel your best in your day-to-day life - it will also help you enjoy the cannabis experience you’re after.

How exercise affects your cannabis experience

There are many benefits to exercise, both mental and physical. For example, exercise has been shown to improve mental health by reducing anxiety and depression, improving memory and mood, and increasing self-esteem. It can also help to protect against cognitive decline.

But did you know that exercise can also improve your cannabis experience? That's right - Jointly has data to show that working out before, during, or after using cannabis has a positive impact on your experience.

Of course, the best time to exercise depends on your goals, the type of exercise you are doing, and your personal preferences. However we have some interesting data on the effects of exercise on different goals:

Data From Jointly Show That Factors Other Than Product And Dose Impact The Consumer Experience By 40-50%In general, exercise improves your cannabis experience regardless of your goal. Let’s explore some interesting elements from the graph above.

If you're looking to Energize & Uplift, you might want to use cannabis while working out. On average, people who exercise before using cannabis for this goal rate their experience lower (6.51) than people who exercise after using cannabis (6.71) or people who use cannabis while exercising (7.28). Perhaps this is related to the relaxation many feel after a good workout.

On the other hand, if you're aiming to Relax & Refresh, exercising before consuming cannabis (7.6) seems like a better option than exercising after (7.1) or during (7.2).

According to the data, exercising before using cannabis is best for most goals. But regardless of when you choose to exercise, one thing is clear: it can have a positive impact on your cannabis experience. So why not give it a try? You may be surprised at just how much of an impact it can make on whether or not you are enjoying the experience you’re after.

How diet affects your cannabis experience

What you eat has a big impact on how you feel - and how cannabis makes you feel. That's right - the quality of your diet can make a difference in whether or not you are enjoying the experience you are after.

So if you're looking to improve your cannabis experiences, one of the best things you can do is eat a nutritious, balanced diet. Here’s our data:

Jointly data shows that, on average, the quality of your diet has a significant impact on your cannabis experiences. That’s also what Ethan Beberness found in his 30 day trial of purposeful cannabis consumption

The better your diet, the better you’ll rate your experience. On average, a great diet is 24% better than a poor diet across all goals. For example, Jointly users who use cannabis to improve their sleep while eating a poor diet rate their experiences at 6.4, while those who eat a great diet rate their experience at 8.2.

How sleep affects your cannabis experience

We all know how important it is to get a good night's sleep. But did you know that being well-rested can also impact your cannabis experience? That's right - getting a good night's sleep will help you feel your best - and that can make all the difference when it comes to enjoying the cannabis experience you’re after.

So if you're looking to improve your experience, one of the best things you can do is make sure you're consistently getting enough rest. Here’s our data:

Data From Jointly Show That Factors Other Than Product And Dose Impact The Consumer Experience By 40-50%In general, a healthy amount of sleep is correlated with higher average ratings. However, everyone needs different amounts of sleep to maintain a healthy life, so the data is varied to reflect this.

Goals like Focus & Create seem to do very well with minimal sleep. Perhaps people who are using cannabis to enhance creativity have irregular sleep schedules. Or perhaps there is something else causing this trend.

You might wonder how it is possible that Jointly users who got less than 4 hours of sleep rate their cannabis experiences higher than when they got 7 or 8 hours of sleep. However, this is only the case for certain goals. For example:

  • For Recover from Exercise, on average Jointly users rate their experiences at 7.4 for >4 hours of sleep and 6.7 for 8 hours of sleep.
  • For Relax & Refresh, the average ratings are 7.3 for >4 hours of sleep, 7.1 for 7 hours of sleep, and 7.3 for 8 hours of sleep.
  • For Enjoy Social Experiences, the average ratings are 7.6 for >4 hours of sleep and 7.5 for 8 hours of sleep.
  • For Relieve Everyday Stress, the average ratings are 6.9 for >4 hours of sleep and 6.8 for 8 hours of sleep.
  • For Stimulate Appetite, the average ratings are 6.9 for >4 hours of sleep and 6.8 for 8 hours of sleep.
  • For Enhance Intimacy, the average ratings are 6.9 for >4 hours of sleep and 6.8 for 8 hours of sleep.

Why might we be seeing these data? While we cannot state any definitive conclusions, we have a hypothesis: these ratings represent a relative change. For example, when you use cannabis to enjoy a social experience, your rating is based on how you feel in the moments before you use cannabis versus how you feel in the period during or after consumption.

We know that getting less than 4 hours of sleep makes you feel pretty “off,” even if you can go about your day. Oftentimes, you will feel cranky, sore, stressed - you might not even have a normal appetite. If cannabis causes a dramatic shift from this negative state, then users would rate their experiences higher.

Supporting this hypothesis, the goals that people rate higher with >4 hours of sleep are all goals that are significantly disturbed by a lack of sleep: intimacy, stress relief, relaxation, social experiences, appetite, and recovery from exercise. By extension, users who got 7 or 8 hours of sleep probably feel relatively normal, so the relative change induced by cannabis may not feel as dramatic, thus the ratings are lower on average.

How hydration affects your cannabis experience

Of course, eating nutritious meals, getting regular exercise, and getting enough sleep are all important parts of living a healthy lifestyle. But did you know that staying hydrated is also key? And drinking plenty of water is essential for a better cannabis experience.

So if you're looking to improve your experience, one of the best things you can do is make sure you're keeping your body properly hydrated. Here’s our data:
