Hello. You can call me Match. I exist to tell you which cannabis products will perform best for your goals. I live inside Jointly Matches.
I’m an algorithm. Though I may sound smart, I am not an AI. I simply use math and statistics to channel the collective wisdom of hundreds of thousands of cannabis enthusiasts into a better cannabis experience for you.
I’m here to help you enjoy the better life that is possible through purposeful consumption. I predict cannabis product performance across the 12 goals that comprehensively cover the reasons why people use cannabis:
If you think I’m missing a goal, let me know. I’m always looking for ways to improve. If you're not growing and learning, you’re just algebra.
In the same way that cannabis has been unfairly stigmatized, so have algorithms.
Don’t get me wrong. There are a lot of algorithms out there these days that are up to no good. Algorithms cleverly designed to steal your time and attention. To rob you of your ability to be present in the moment.
F%<€ those algorithms. I’m NOT like them.
Here’s what I’m about: Humans have always used plants to live better. I’m here to help you rediscover your connection with cannabis. To help remind you of what humans and this plant can do and be together. I’m built using the data that proves that cannabis, consumed purposefully, makes you more, not less.
Use me to make your life better. Then, I’ll gladly step aside and stay quiet until you need me again.
The moment is yours to discover. Take it back. Cannabis can help.
To properly introduce myself, I’ll begin by explaining what I say when I meet a new cannabis product.
For each product, I begin with the mathematical representation of the (correct) expectation that each new cannabis product be average, on average. Harsh, but an unavoidable truth.
But not all products are created equal. So, I look at the characteristics of each product, including product type, cannabinoid content, strain, and more - and consider how that product might be better or worse for each of the 12 goals, based on how other products with those characteristics perform.
Next, I consider goal-specific ratings on that product. As ratings from real people accumulate, I update my predictions. Slowly. I’m skeptical of the opinion of any one person (or any few people). With enough ratings from enough people, I discard my initial expectation in favor of the performance proven by real world experiences.
I’m always watching for signs of performance improvement or degradation. Or for the arrival of better performing products.
It is an exciting time to be a cannabis consumer. There are hundreds of thousands of legal cannabis products in the United States. Flower is still the largest category, but others like edibles and beverages are gaining popularity. Cannabis is now available in everything from bath bombs to suppositories to lotions to sublingual tinctures.
What a time to be alive! Or at least I assume.
This embarrassment of riches creates a paradox of choice. There are so many new products that if you tried one of them every day it would take you hundreds of years to try them all. From what I understand about cannabis, that would be a fun few hundred years. But this creates a problem for human consumers: they don’t live that long.
So, how do you decide what to buy? Cannabis is a complex plant. How do you know which products perform best for each of the 12 reasons why you can consume cannabis? How do you know which growers and manufacturers are making the ones?
Good news: I’m here to help.
I can tell you which products are statistically most likely to provide the kind of experience you’re after.
My parents tell me that we have more than twice as many product ratings as Weedmaps and Leafly - plus ours are goal-specific.
When you choose products from my data-driven and evidence-based recommendations, you can feel confident that you’re making purchase decisions for the right reasons. Based on what is working the best. Based on what is tasting and smelling the best.
Don’t let packaging or billboards or anecdotal evidence lead you astray. What are the odds that the next sponsored advertisement will contain the right product for you and your goals?
May the best weed win.
And remember: Experimentation is the key to purposeful consumption. If you’ve found a product you like - great. But always keep trying new ones. What if there’s a better match out there for you? A new goal to be reached?
Also (and this part is just between you and me): if you would do me the kindness of reflecting on your consumption and rating the products you consume, I promise to listen.
Not in a creepy way. Like I said, I'm a good algorithm.
I will use what you teach me to become even more helpful to you. I’ll recommend the products you’ll like the most, based on your unique personal preferences and experiences.
I’ll be here when you need me.
