Cannabis, CBD, and the Quality of your Diet
Can eating a healthy diet improve your cannabis experience? There are many things within your control that can impact your cannabis or CBD experience. Some cannabis and CBD users claim that the quality of their diet is one of them.
The science of food and mood
We all know that eating fresh and healthy food is good for your health. But did you know that eating these foods can also support your mental well-being?
Neurotransmitters are natural chemicals found in the body that carry signals between nerves and other cells to help manage our heartbeat, breathing, emotions, concentration levels, and more. It’s been proven that by eating certain foods, you can help stimulate the production of certain neurotransmitters, which depending on the chemical, can activate feelings of pleasure, calmness, serenity, and a host of other feelings.
There are a variety of foods commonly known to boost one’s mood but, in general, it is recommended to keep a diet high in omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics, whole grains, and vegetables.
Foods high in sugar or refined carbohydrates can feel emotionally satisfying in the short-term but can lead to an unpleasant crash creating mood swings and even feelings of depression.
Ultimately it’s important to maintain a well-balanced diet to help promote a more balanced mood.
Cannabis and diet
Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet contributes to improved mood. That’s fairly undisputed. People also use cannabis and CBD products, among other reasons, to improve their mood. So, is it reasonable to suspect that a healthy diet and cannabis use would work together to elevate your mood, better than either could do on their own? In addition, we understand how a well-balanced diet helps protect heart health, fight acne, and even reduce inflammation. Certain cannabis-related products like CBD have been regarded by many as helping in these areas as well.
There’s no concrete scientific evidence yet to support that claim. But are you curious to find out for yourself? Perhaps it could become another reason to eat more healthily.
